Wave Gliders Return to Antarctica

Since 2016, Dr. Jim Thomson and his team have been using Wave Gliders to study the effects of the warming ocean interacting with protruding ice shelves off of Antarctica. This year they returned to continue their research and gain valuable data on water temperature, salinity and pressure, to further understand connections between the ocean, atmosphere and sea ice. Wave Gliders Record Dolphin Sounds in the Farne Islands

Climate change is a rising concern in the Farne Islands, one of the UK’s most important wildlife reserves. Researchers from Newcastle University are using Wave Gliders to record the dolphins and learn about how pollutants in the environment are affecting the dolphin populations.
